I want to keep this blog going.
Here we go. I ran 14 miles this week, including two records:
1. I ran 5 miles on Friday, first time at that distance in over a year.
2. I ran 2 miles today in 18:45, fastest time at that distance in 15 years at least.
I feel pretty good about it.

New Shoes
Asics 2120
My old Asics Kayanos were wearing out, so I went to a real running store for the first time to purchase shoes. The salesman videoed my running on a treadmill to determine how my feet land, and where my weaknesses and strengths are. Then he matched me up with a shoe that was less expensive than the one I specifically asked for (the Kayano). So I walked away in a shoe that's better for me and cheaper. I'll be back!

So far, I've run 20 miles in them since April 1. I've also put in 120 minutes on the elliptical machine. These should last about 300-400 miles, I think. They might last longer, but I'm still pretty heavy.

193
Down to 193 pounds, 30.6% body fat.
So, since January
...I've lost 19 pounds.
...I've lost 17 pounds of fat.
...I've lost 2 pounds of lean (not-fat).
I'm happy about that!

Running Man
I've gotten quite interested in running longer distances recently. I've not updated this journal as often as I thought I would when I started. Maybe, I'll start back up again.

Last week I ran 3 times -- 4 miles, 5 miles and 5 miles. 14 miles in one week!
This week, I think I'm going to try for a 6-mile run.
Could a 10k be in my future?
How about a half marathon?
How about the Miami Marathon in January?
Surely not.
Anyway, I like to listen to mp3 files of sermons, lectures and news while I'm running. It passes the time. I listen to them in high speed, which may help me to run faster (a new thought as I'm typing this). A few weeks ago, I shifted my goal from speed to distance, which has made all the difference in the world. I don't care how slow I go, but I don't walk and I don't stop until I've finished my course. Who knew? It's fun.

JSF Journal
Just to let you know, I'm working on a journal at John Stone Fitness. You can find my thread here. I started the journal about 2 years ago, but the last half of it is from 2007.
